Two Vintage Small Delfts/Gouda Ceramic Figures from Holland: Windmill and Mortar and Pestle, Blue and White Design
These two small vintage ceramic figurines from Holland were most likely souvenirs obtained during travel to Holland, although I am not certain of their provenance. The little windmill has rotating blades at the top that are connected with a screw and nut mechanism to the windmill. The blades do still rotate when made to do so. On the bottom of this figure in blue letters is "Delfts-Ronde, Holland  50 ??".   After the "50" is what looks like "gu" or "au", but I cannot be sure. The windmill stands about 3.5" including the blade; the base is 1.75" at the widest. The piece is in good vintage condition although it does have some dirt on it which I have not removed; my buyers want the items in original, as-found condition.  On the tip of one of the blades is what may appear like a tiny nick on the side; this occurred in the manufacture of the item since it has glaze on the indentation in the ceramic.  On the bottom of the mortar and pestle figure in blue letters is: "1055 Ms Zenith Gouda Holland Jr". The mortar portion measures about 1.75" tall and almost 2" wide including the two handles. The little pestle is almost 2" long; these are usually not included because they have been broken or misplaced. The mortar and pestle are in very good vintage condition although carrying a little dirt on the surface. If you love the restful quality of the blue and white ceramics from Holland, you will enjoy these two little figures.
