    Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Mary Mckee, Philadelphia, an agency physician for the Bureau of Indian Affairs from the 1890's to her retirement in 1930. Dr. Mckee graduated from the Women's Medical College of Philadelphia. After experiencing difficulty setting up a private practice in her home town. due to a resistance to women doctors, she joined the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She served in N. Dakota with the Mandan and later in the Southwest, working with the Navajo and the Hopi.
