    Description

Antique Comanche, Apache Style Indian 11"x4" Beaded Bag Mohonk Lodge Ca 1920-30
This listing is for a beautiful Comanche Beaded Bag originating from the Mohonk Lodge circa 1920's.
The measurements of the body of the bag, minus tassels, is approximately 4" x 6-1/2". With the tassels it is approximately 11" tall.
It is composed of commercial leather and beaded with sinew thread and beads of the following colors: white heart translucent red, white, green, and translucent dark yellow. Please see the last image for the excerpt from the original catalog from Mohonk Lodge showing this piece as described:
"Grey Flat Bag. Made of grey suede skin and heavily beaded on one side. Size about 4 by 6 1/2 Inches".
The piece is in amazing condition for its age. The leather is soft and supple. There appears to be no bead loss. The only thing to note is this piece was formerly mounted in a shadow box with metal wire. There is a small amount of oxidation on the strings along with compression from the wire. This area is hidden when the bag lays flat and does not significantly impact the integrity of the leather. There are no other areas impacted by this mounting.
This piece would make a wonderful addition to your collection. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you!
